Greetings, friends! We hope you are staying warm and safe. In this report, we will tell you about our successes in Ukrainian localization in January 2024, as well as some of our news from December 2023 that were not included in last year’s general review — 2023 in Review.
UKRAINIAN LOCALISATION
OFFICIAL RELEASES AND UPDATES
To begin with, the Ukrainian studio Frogwares is now the sole publisher of The Sinking City, so you can confidently buy the new version of the game on all your favorite platforms. Owners of the old version can download the updated one for free.
On the 25th anniversary of the original Baldur’s Gate game, we have released an update for our separate Ukrainian localization mode for Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition.
We would like to remind you that the game has an official Ukrainian localization, but it is rarely updated, so the Ukrainian localization mode was created as a patch to fix errors.
Drone simulator Liftoff®: FPV Drone Racing has received an update that adds translation to some lines. We are also waiting for the next updates with error fixes.
We are still working on Baldur’s Gate 3, as updates with various improvements to the gameplay and translation are still being released.
If you would like to report an error, please send a screenshot along with a description of an error to the #baldurs-gate-3 channel on Discord or our website on the Contacts page, selecting the subject line “Report an error in Baldur’s Gate 3 “.
Moreover, we would like to remind you about the existence of the Baldur’s Gate 3 wiki in Ukrainian. We invite you to join and become a contributor and thus help to develop the Ukrainianization of game universes!
And finally, don’t forget to take the opportunity to pre-order “Minecraft. The Official Cookbook” from Mal’opus.
EDITING AND TRANSLATION
The situation with the volunteer projects looks like this:
Planescape: Torment – 20% translated.
Atom RPG: Trudograd – 99% translated.
Darkest Dungeon – 99% translated. The Ukrainian localization mode is available for download.
Kingdom Come Deliverance – editing continues, but due to the heavy workload of the editors, the progress is not very noticeable yet (~47.5%).
The rest of the projects are still without significant changes.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
On a podcast with Manifest, Yura Dragon spoke about his exceptional experience working on the localization of “Phantom Liberty”, a DLC for Cyberpunk 2077.
Last but not least, Oleksandr Lukianov organized three translation streams, during which, as you might have guessed from the title, he translated his portion of the text from Planescape: Torment. Viewers in the chat on our Twitch channel wrote their thoughts and tips on translating certain parts.
