Hello, friends! While our courageous defenders give Russian warships directions and “clap” (Russian newspeak for an explosion — yes, heavy “1894” vibes) for occupants, we continue the Ukrainisation of game Universes. So welcome to a short overview of the work we did in June.
New Ukrainian Localizations
What’s new?
Yura Dragon did his magic again and translated two mods for S.T.A.L.K.E.R — Original Weapons Renewal 3 (for “Call of Prypiat”) and Sky Reclamation Project (for “Clear Sky”).
Both projects are available on the dedicated pagein the Our Projects section. So come there, download, and enjoy the mods in Ukrainian.
Translation of Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition is complete, all one million six hundred thousands words! All we need to do now is edit, but this adventure our editors will undertake after the completion of Kingdom Come: Deliverance. When Beamdog would add the localization to the game is uncertain, but they promised to do it next year (2023).
Translation in Progress
Looks like SBT Localization is having another hot summer — an avalanche of projects threatens to bury us alive. We cannot speak of some for now — it’s a secret, so here the some we could speak of:
Planescape: Torment is translated for 1% (+1%). This game has about a million words (999 000). Anna Tsvira was the most active translator.
Darkest Dungeon is translated for 47% (+8%). Anastasia Kachanova has the gold for most words translated here.
Trudogradis done for 10% (+6%). The most notable contribution this month belongs to Natalia Andruk.
Editing
Tales of the Neon Sea is completely edited. Now we waiting for the build from the developers for the final check.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance is edited for 37% (+2%). Tetiana Cherednychok and Olha Sushytska found some time in their busy schedule to edit over 20,000 words.
The Banner Saga 3 is edited for 85% (+3%) in general, the dialog file is done for 72% (+6%). Bohdana Vozniuk again accompanied by Yurii Bisyk. Helpful that Crowdin has a handy mobile version.
Into the Breach is edited for 67% (no change). We’d better like to make an official localization, not a localization mod. However, for now, negotiations with developers are tough.
Undungeon is on pause because only half of the developer’s team is working now due to the russian agression in Ukraine.
Curiosities
The process for Game Terminology Standardization started more than a year ago. Unfortunately, due to war work of the National Committee for State Language Standardization partially stopped so they decided to put compiled vocabulary for general review and discussion using CC BY-NC-SA (Creative Commons Attribution NonCommercial Share-Alike) license.
Vocabulary in the format of a simple table is available at this link. If you have suggestions, please fill out the suggestion form.
Steam summer sale started in June. For the occasion, we compiled a small list of games in the Ukrainian language. Yes, it’s incomplete since the number of such games constantly increases (also the sale already ended at the time of this report), but you can always add something interesting to your wishlist and wait for the next sale. Or don’t wait and buy it for the full price, if you are impatient.
Yura Dragon continued his streams. This month he streamed S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chornobyl and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. You can watch his videos on our Youtube channel.
