Greetings, friends! A year has already passed since the beginning of russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine. This terrible year has flashed by like a horrifying dream, and we really want to wake up from it to see our lost relatives again, to be back in our undamaged, cozy homes, to go about our favorite everyday activities in peace… Unfortunately, the past cannot be brought back, we can only move forward, and we, Ukrainians, will definitely win, because we are a powerful nation with strong ancient roots, because we are on our ancestral land, our homeland, because the truth, God and the Armed Forces of Ukraine are with us. And while our glorious soldiers are helping russian wives get a fur coat (or a pack of “pelmeni”, as the luck would have it), we will tell you a little about the work of SBT Localization in February.
First of all, we want to show off our hamster Boo’s new look. It was drawn for us by liilu_art. You may have already seen Boo in the last “Language minute” about making comparisons: Як правильно: він кращий чи він краще? We also have a new look for Maiqe the Cat, whom you will also see soon (he is still resting from his travels and preparing new wisdom about English idioms).
Our Ukrainian translations
“God of War. Перекази й легенди” (God of War. Lore And Legends) was released in February by MAL’OPUS. A great thing if you’re a God of War fan, so be sure to buy it. And don’t forget that there is also an art book “The Art of God of War“. We gave away several copies of “Lore And Legends” to our patrons and subscribers during the raffles on Patreon and our website.
The Ukrainian language mod for Banner Saga 3 is almost ready. We haven’t tested everything yet, because we have a lot of work to do on the main projects, but our patrons can already install and play in Ukrainian, and at the same time report any errors that might still remain. We plan to release it for public use soon. Some time later we will start translating the first two games.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance – 46% (out of 1,041,845 words). In fact, a little more has been proofread, but the full percentile has not been reached, so the number is still the same. In general, most of the quests in the storyline have already been proofread, as well as 45 side quests. By the way, we decided not to wait for the developers to officially update the text in the game, so we are preparing a patch with corrections.
Liftoff: FPV Drone Racing – 36% (out of 12,236 words). Although the proofreading is not yet complete, we are already able to test the translation. In addition, the developers of LuGus studio told us on their website about what encouraged them to stand with Ukraine. By the way, they gave away several game keys to Ukrainian flight schools to help our defenders quickly learn how to operate drones.
Trudograd – 67% (out of 584,380 words). The translation of this “Ukrainian Fallout” is progressing quite quickly. We are very grateful to the volunteers who are helping with this project, and to Mykyta Rivchachenko in particular.
Darkest Dungeon – 86% (out of 92,552 words). There are no changes here yet, but next month’s progress will definitely be noticeable, as several parts of the text were included in the mid-March SBT internship of the Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogic University students.
Planescape: Torment – 10% (out of 999,290 words). Don’t let the small percentage of overall progress confuse you, because it’s almost a hundred thousand translated words in total!
The rest of the volunteer projects have not changed much thus far. In general, we are quite overwhelmed with secret projects that are constantly appearing, so if you are able to fluently translate from English to Ukrainian or you are a great editor, we invite you to join the Ukrainianization of game worlds.
