SBT Localization turns 14!

Today the SBT Localization team celebrates 14 years of introducing Ukrainian to more and more game universes, from the boisterous attitude of the initial volunteer projects to the professional approach by the specialists of now.

RPGs, detective games, horrors, strategies, simulators, cooperative games… projects both large and small. Each project unique in its own way. Some have a very distinct world like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, some break the team’s back with its wording and wordplay like MOUSE: P.I. For Hire, while others require a good understanding of the game’s mechanics, for example Dice Legends or RuneQuest: Warlords.

Speaking of mechanics: it is even more relevant for board games. And while the SBT team has quite a few of those under its belt, but our first official one came out just recently —  Zona: The Secret of Chernobyl. We are very grateful to the Geekach publishing house and their very patient editors for this chance to prove ourselves.

We’ve also translated several artbooks and videogame-based cookbooks, most of which can be found in the Mal’opus store, like The Art of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, The Art of Kingdom Come Deliverance II, and The Elder Scrolls: The Official Cookbook.

Over the course of these 14 years, the team has stacked quite a few titles in its portfolio: we’ve localized more than 60 videogames, over 30 books and 5 board games, totaling over 15 million words! Imagine that!

To put things in perspective, gather all the books you have and start counting: that amounts to around 60 chubby volumes like the Lord of the Rings or about 150 average books. That’s quite a pile, isn’t it?

A part of our team is now serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard of Ukraine or works as military volunteers. We’re all waiting for the Ukrainian victory and to once again be able to live under a peaceful sky.
